Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the Education & Training program to ensure that training and TB education engagements are performed in a professional and effective manner.
  • Provide professional TB training workshops for internal & external stakeholders.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Outreach on effective public awareness campaigns and the development and implementation of training & outreach efforts in community.
  • Design, implement and evaluate training efforts such as education, targeted materials creation and education/empowerment of partners.
  • Develop agenda and identify speakers for staff development trainings.
  • Create training activity and compliance reports for the Bureau, New York State, and CDC.
  • Conceptualize the development, implementation, dissemination, and evaluation of new training initiatives.
  • Develop and update participant evaluation tools to determine the quality of Education & Training programming and regularly evaluate feedback from audience participants.
  • Engage in the design, presentation, curriculum development and coordination of professional training opportunities.
  • Design and present specialized volunteer opportunities and training curricula for Education & Training Program volunteers.
  • Collaborate with internal & external stakeholders involved in training & development.
  • Compile and evaluate Education & Training program statistics and prepare reports and program summaries as required.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of Education & Training Program staff, promoting their professional development and monitoring fulfillment of their individual responsibilities.
  • Initiate coordination of continuing education opportunities for Bureau staff drafting and submitting Continuing Medical Education (CME) documents.
  • Present abstracts and findings at national conferences to elevate TB as a major health concern.
  • Oversee the social media platforms, creating, editing and uploading content across platforms.

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with at least one year of increasing responsibility in the planning, coordination and implementation of trainings.
  • Experience designing and conducting training needs assessment.
  • Knowledge of basic data management, analysis and reporting methods.
  • Excellent skills in presentation, organization, and written and oral communication.
  • Participate in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Experience in conducting TB trainings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • For Assignment Level I: A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, or environmental science or in public health.
  • For Assignment Level II and above:
    • A doctorate degree with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental, or social science and one year of full‑time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
    • A master’s degree with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full‑time research experience in field of specialization; or
    • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least a master’s degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in “2” above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in “1” and “2” above.
