A fast growing and entrepreneurial real estate development and construction firm is seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead their financial operations. The ideal candidate enjoys rolling up their sleeves, implementing systems and controls, and bringing structure and accuracy to a growing business. You’ll lead a small team, collaborate closely with project leaders and ownership, and play a vital role in financial communication with external investors.

Responsibilities

• Lead all day‑to‑day accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and job costing.
• Month‑end close reconciliations and journal entries.
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to investors and ownership.
• Manage and mentor a team of three.
• Establish and improve internal controls, policies, and financial processes to support scalability.
• Oversee job costing and collaborate with project managers to ensure accuracy and transparency on project financials.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, budget vs. actuals, and project‑level reporting.
• Work directly with external CPAs on tax planning, compliance, and audit preparation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience managing and developing small teams.
• Strong real estate industry experience.
• Experience with job costing and WIP schedules.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on, entrepreneurial environment.
